Race Review: Weekend’s SKCC Race In Kalmar

Last weekend was time for the SKCC 4 race in Kalmar, and due to some family logistics, it was Hanna who went with Vera on Friday for testing. Our good friends at Poulsen Motorsport were an invaluable help, providing first-class support in terms of mental coaching and kart setup.

The weather was on the wet side with rain most of the day, but for Vera, rain is not a challenge – it’s a joy. Her lap times were fast, and everything pointed to a really good race weekend.

Vera drove her best race in the J125 class and showed impressive performances throughout the weekend.

Sunday's Race:

Sunday’s race started with a somewhat slow qualification, which meant we started further back in the field than desired in the preliminary races. In Heat 1, Vera started P21 but moved up 8 positions, finishing P13.

In Heat 2, Vera started at P22 and impressively moved up to finish at P11. She also set the third-fastest lap time on the track – a fantastic performance.

In the Superheat, Vera started at P9 due to her good driving in the earlier heats. She crossed the finish line at P7 but received a 5-second penalty for a displaced front bumper, which placed her at P9.

The final race was the highlight. The 36 fastest drivers out of the 43 registered competed for the victory. Vera started at P22 and again showed her speed by moving up 9 positions, resulting in an impressive overall 13th place.

She was undoubtedly the fastest girl of the day.

Next Big Race: Champions of The Future Academy

The next big race will be the Champions of The Future Academy on the fast Franciacorta track in Italy from July 26-28. The whole family will head to Italy to support Vera on the international stage. It is the last round on European soil before the final three rounds move to the Middle East in the fall.
